THOR ABOUT THE EDITION - "Kumatani"
"Thor´s comment regarding the upcoming edition "Kumatani" "There are two things that have fundamentally changed my pottery. The first was the apprenticeship period with Paula Lindfors in 1996, which lasted four years until 2000. There I learned the basics of ceramics and the Japanese expression in tea cups, as Paula was a pioneer in raku firing. The second was when the pottery union in Tokoname, Japan, decided to offer me to work alongside Hidemi "Shuhou" Kataoka of the Yoshimura kiln for a month. At the unveiling, I was given the honorary name "Kumatani", which translates to "Valley bear", as I was considered to stand between the mountain in the west and the mountain in the east with a unique Nordic style that was now anchored in Japan. It has now been seven years since then and in November I am going back to hold two exhibitions in Tokyo. With this edition, I wanted to clarify my kinship with the Japanese forms and dress them in the colors of the Swedish autumn."
